What is Laser Lipolysis?

Laser lipolysis is a minimally invasive fat reduction procedure.  It involves the use of a laser to rapidly dissolve excess fat in target areas such as the thighs, abdomen, arms, neck and parts of the face, using a minor “keyhole” surgical procedure. A very fine laser fiber is inserted under the skin into the treatment area. The laser light causes swelling and rupture of fat cells. When the fat is melted, it can either be absorbed by the body or removed by the physician. How does CoolSculpting vs laser lipolysis differ?

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is also a fat reduction procedure but instead of “burning” the fat cells, the CoolSculpting procedure “freezes” the fat cells. The cells then die and the body eliminates them. Each session takes about one hour. There is little to no downtime with this procedure and patients can expect minimal soreness.  CoolSculpting is recommended for treating the abdomen, love handles, inner thighs, back and chin. Laser lipolysis is best for the abdomen and love handles only.
