Xeomin

What is Xeomin?

Xeomin is derived from botulinum toxin type A, which also happens to be the same active ingredient found in Botox. Xeomin has been FDA approved for various cosmetic uses. These injectables might be the right course of treatment for you if you’re looking to treat your moderate to severe frown lines, brow wrinkles, or crow's feet. With its FDA approval, Xeomin can be used to treat the same facial wrinkles as Botox. This procedure could be the ideal treatment for patients whose results with Botox were below expectations. Xeomin works by blocking the nerve activity in the muscles, preventing wrinkle-causing movement for a more youthful appearance.

Who Is a Candidate?

Xeomin is a great choice to refresh your face if you’re a healthy adult with forehead lines, crow’s feet, smile lines, or lines around the eyes. Xeomin injections are safe for all skin types and skin colors. If you’ve tried Botox injections in the past with disappointing results, you may see better results with Xeomin due to the minor difference in the structure of the compound.

What to expect?

The rejuvenation injections are administered by an Ethos Spa physician via a fine needle. Each injection is placed into each specific muscle for only a few seconds. The majority of patients are surprised to find the discomfort levels of the procedure much lower than expected.

Typical treatment sessions usually take around 15 to 20 minutes. You may return to typical daily activities, which makes Xeomin injections a convenient option. You should keep your head elevated to prevent any movement of the injectable compound to undesired areas. Avoid lying down for the first few hours following your treatment and refrain from sleeping with your face down for the first night or two.

You may notice raised bumps around the injection sites in the 30 to 60 minutes immediately following the procedure. Redness and puffiness may appear following your treatment but should dissipate within a few days. While uncommon, you may experience bruising that lasts around 7 to 10 days. To reduce the risk of bruising after your procedure, avoid aspirin products 10 days prior to your scheduled treatment.

You’ll notice smoother, younger skin about 2-3 days after your procedure. You should experience the full results around 14 days. Your face will have a noticeable youthful glow and feel smooth to the touch.

Touch-up treatments should be scheduled about every four to six months as muscle movement gradually returns. The distance between your treatments may widen over time as your muscles become more relaxed from repeat procedures.

Xeomin facial injections at Ethos Spa Skin and Laser Center of New Jersey are a perfect alternative to Botox treatments. If you’d like to restore that youthful glow to your face, schedule a consultation today.
