At Ethos Spa Skin & Laser Center, we’re so amazed by the results we’ve seen for our guests with revolutionary CoolSculpting therapy, we can’t help sharing the news.

Since being approved by the FDA in 2010, CoolSculpting has become the “go to” solution for problem areas of stubborn fat.  Without surgery, this incredibly effective treatment literally kills fat cells with cold temperatures.

We know it sounds too good to be true.  It reads like science fiction – the magic wand that waves away fat, painlessly.  But CoolSculpting is 100% reality.

Progressive results.

Through the miracle of cryolipolysis, CoolSculpting works by instigating “lipolysis” – a process by which fat cells die.  Once they’ve been frozen, your body flushes them out with the help of your immune system.  By applying cold to targeted areas, your body is enabled to rid itself of fat.  And the best part is that it’s removed permanently.

Your body has a limited number of fat cells, so once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.  Following treatment, you’ll notice the changes within only a few weeks, but the results of this revolutionary therapy are progressive, so you’ll see the treated area become more smooth and taut, as time goes by.

CoolSculpting doesn’t offer instant gratification.  What it does offer is permanent spot reduction that’s achieved with a non-invasive process that really works.  That’s why CoolSculpting:  solving the problem of stubborn fat without surgery, is the fastest growing spot reduction technology in the world.

It’s painless, too.

Many of guests here at Ethos Spa have been amazed by the results they’ve seen with CoolSculpting.  Almost everyone who comes to us to discuss the technology is a skeptic to start with.  It’s hard to believe that you can achieve such incredible results without surgery.

But it’s true.  Without incisions, anaesthesia, or recovery time, our guests are incredulous to watch their treated areas reduce over time, painlessly.  The process itself is comfortable, with most sessions lasting an hour, depending on the area being treated.

We simply can’t say enough about revolutionary Coolsculpting and the difference it’s made to people frustrated by working out and eating nutritiously and still being plagued by one or two areas that won’t budge.

CoolSculpting is a spot reduction silver bullet that’s gotten the job done for so many of our guests here at Ethos and you can be one of them.

Let’s talk about CoolSculpting.

At Ethos, we take the time to get to know you and your expectations for the therapies you’re talking to us about.  We’ll never tell you the treatment you’re looking at it is right for you if it isn’t.  We’re an ethical facility, governed by a Board of medical professionals.

CoolSculpting may be the right fit for you.  We generally tell our guests that it’s most appropriate for people with a normal body weight and BMI (Body Mass Index), particularly those who are engaged in healthy lifestyles which include regular exercise and mindful eating.

Contact us.  Let’s talk about CoolSculpting and whether it’s right for you.

Many patients ask us this question about CoolSculpting.  We like to talk them through questions like these in the initial consultation, but because we have a blog (and we’re not afraid to use it), we’d like to offer a few thoughts here.

Right at the start, we’d like to get one important thing out of the way – everybody’s different.  No two people are put together the same or respond to treatment in the same way.  It’s important to understand that before we start talking about this treatment model.

Stacking – what is it?

Referred to as “stacking”, the practice of doing two back-to-back sessions on the same area, on the same day has its proponents in the medical spa sector.  We know that it can be highly effective.  That said, is it wise to do something twice in a row that you’ve never done before?

For seasoned CoolSculptors, stacking may be advisable.  They and their practitioners understand how their bodies are going to respond, because they’ve worked together before.  If, however, you’re new to CoolSculpting, we don’t recommend stacking.

CoolsSculpting’s long-term, progressive results are better experienced with sessions involving the same area spaced about 8 weeks apart.  Ethos Spa’s guests are always advised conservatively, especially when they’re coming to us for their very first aesthetic procedure.  This gives the therapy time to do its fat cell-killing job and for your body to eliminate the residue of the procedure via its natural systemic action.

Having said all that, two different areas (for example, the upper and lower abdominal regions) may be treated over the course of the same session.

The multiple session debate and spacing.

At Ethos Spa Skin & Laser Center, we know our guests enjoy incredible results with CoolSculpting therapy.  Because we treat so many people, we have an intimate understanding of the treatment and the diversity of timelines involved for different people and the various areas being addressed.

Many medical spas recommend two months between sessions.  At Ethos, we think that’s a sufficiently realistic timeline.  It permits the body to do its job and allows the guest to see at least the beginning of the dramatic results which can be realized with this technology.

Of course, mileage may vary.  Different medical spas make varied recommendations in this regard.  Of course, some of those recommendations may be based on the guest’s body type, budget and availability for treatment.

So, can you benefit from more than one CoolSculpting session in the same area?  The answer is a qualified “yes”.

Ethical medical aesthetics at Ethos.

Ethos Spa is a doctored-directed facility which approaches the practice of cosmetic treatments within an ethical framework that places guest health and safety first.

If you’re considering CoolSculpting therapy, we advise you to come in and sit down with one of our skilled technicians to discuss how it works, what to expect and the therapy’s suitability for you.

At Ethos, we bring you the most advanced medical aesthetics.  We invite you to discuss CoolSculpting with us!

The professionals at Ethos Spa are dedicated to offering our guests the most advanced non-invasive medical aesthetic procedures available.  Today, we’d like to talk about the tummy tuck vs. CoolSculpting.

The tummy tuck (lipoabdominoplasty) is quite an involved procedure which requires significant downtime, due to the swelling involved.  It’s a surgical procedure and right from the start, we need to say that its application addresses a different set of challenges than CoolSculpting does.

Let’s look at instances in which a tummy tuck may be appropriate.

Addressing loose skin after weight loss.

When a very heavy person loses weight, the impact on the body can be quite severe.  That’s why weight loss for those who wish to reduce their body mass should be practiced under the care and guidance of a physician.  Losing huge amounts of weight is a physical stressor.

Extreme weight loss can also lead to excess skin.  When fat is eliminated from the body, that skin which covers it is stretched.  When underlying soft tissue is eliminated, the skin isn’t just going to bounce back.  While our skin is quite elastic, there are limits to what it’s able to do.

In instances like these, the tummy tuck is the way forward for the elimination of excess skin.  The sagging skin following extreme weight loss can be wrinkled and unattractive.  It’s therefore highly desirable to pursue its removal.  Coolsculpting can’t do that for you because it’s designed to specifically address areas of your body which don’t respond to diet and exercise.  It removes fat cells, not excess skin.

Separated muscles after a pregnancy.

Abdominal muscle separation is an extremely common condition after pregnancy which can change the appearance of the abdomen.  Many women are dissatisfied with their appearance in this regard, following childbirth.

In this instance (which may also involve the removal of skin that has become loose and is sagging), abdominal muscles will be repaired as part of the procedure, restoring the abdomen of the patient to a smoother appearance.

Different therapies.  Different objectives.

As we’ve discussed above, the tummy tuck and CoolSculpting address two very different problems.  CoolSculpting can’t remove excess skin following radical weight loss.  Nor can it repair separated muscles.  What it can do is freeze fat cells in specific areas, eliminating those cells permanently.

The tummy tuck and CoolSculpting both have a place in the world of medical aesthetics, but they perform very different functions with completely different objectives.

Ethos Spa Skin & Laser Center – medical aesthetics, ethically.

Ethos Spa is a medically informed facility, governed by a Board of doctors.  For that reason, we practice medical cosmetic therapies within an ethical framework that puts the health and safety of our guests first.

We’ll never recommend treatments that aren’t right for you, or attempt to “sell” you on a procedure we don’t know is 100% safe, reliable and effective.  We proceed conservatively, ensuring our guests are fully informed about their chosen treatments and that their expectations are realistic.

Planning a wedding can be hard on your skin.  As the bride, you’re in the eye of the hurricane, with too much to get done and not enough time to do it.  The stress can show up on your skin in the form of dark circles under tired eyes, acne eruptions, and dryness.

There are some simple things you can do to help your skin through the prenuptial madness.  We’ll talk about those here, but we also recommend that you schedule some intentional time to get your skin looking its best before the big day, with Ethos Spa Skin & Laser Center.  A wedding demands professional support from trained experts who know how to get your skin glowing with bridal bliss.

Some common sense guidelines.

One of the most important items in the New Jersey Bride’s Guide to Pre-Wedding Skin Care is the value of hydration.  You may love Coca-Cola, but it does not love your skin.  It is not hydration, by any stretch of the imagination.  It can undermine your skincare regime as easily as laying out in the sun without UV-protection.

Hydration means water.  Good, old-fashioned water and lots of it.  Drinking those 8 glasses every day is good for more than your skin, too.  Healthy hydration will energize you and feed your body.  For a week before the wedding, try to drink a little more than the daily requirement to give your skin a hydration boost that spells “blissful bride”.

Stick to the products you know.  Don’t try something new in the final months before your wedding.  Untried products can expose you to skin reactions that will derail your skincare project.

Get enough sleep.  Your skin needs it to look its best.  You need it to get all your ducks in a row!  Even with a million things to do, 8 hours of sleep every night is a must for brides-to-be.  Resist the temptation to get by on any less than what you need.  It can catch up with you – and your skin.

Professional support for glowing bridal skin.

At Ethos Spa Skin & Laser Center, we’re doctor-directed professionals.  With a suite of only the most advanced medical spa skin care solutions available, we help you reach your pre-wedding beauty goals.

Our approach is conservative, so we’ll never steer you toward therapies which aren’t suitable for your skin type.  We want you to feel incredible and look amazing on your wedding day, so we ensure that the skin care we recommend is personalized.  You’ll glow with beauty and confidence, with the professional support offered at Ethos Spa.

Add Ethos to your bridal “to do” list early and take advantage of medical spa skin care that helps you meet your wedding beauty goals.  While you’re doing it, we’ll pamper you at our luxurious day spa, where you’ll feel at ease and relaxed the moment you walk through the front door.

Since its approval by the FDA in 2010, CoolSculpting has changed the game in terms of non-invasive spot reduction.  Based on a process called Cryolipolysis, low temperatures are applied to targeted areas. CoolSculpting freezes fat cells, causing no harm to other soft tissue.

CoolSculpting is most effective on people who don’t normally weight problems.  Rather, these are people who exercise and eat well, but find there are one or two areas they can’t change the appearance of.  With CoolSculpting, they can eliminate problem areas safely and without resorting to surgery.

How does it work?

Born in the research facility at Harvard University, CoolSculpting technology emerged when it was discovered that fat cells responded to the application of extreme cold.  Fat doesn’t like the cold and when directly targeted by it in this way, a process called “lipolysis” occurs.

This process effectively kills fat cells.  Surrounding tissue isn’t harmed.  Over time, the body eliminates the fat from these cells, via the immune system.  The result is a tightened, smoother appearance in the treated area.

CoolSculpting is now a widely-favored alternative for spot reduction, due to its ability to target fat cells, while protecting other tissue.  This is not the case with other non-invasive techniques which employ lasers (heat) and other technologies.  This is a revolutionary feature of Coolsculpting.  It is virtually free of risk where other tissue is concerned, like muscles, nerves and skin.

Once fat cells have been frozen through the application of Cryolipolysis, they’re gone forever.  Our bodies only contain a set number of fat cells.  Once they’re eliminated by this process, the effects are permanent, because fat cells don’t grow back, once they’ve been treated.  This is another feature of the technology that makes it a superior choice for spot reduction.

Versus liposuction? No contest.

The grand dame of spot reduction techniques, liposuction can be used on any area of the body, whereas the application of CoolSculpting is more limited in scope.  At the same time, results with CoolSculping are achieved through a painless, non-invasive procedure.

Liposuction (as we all know) is surgery.  It is invasive and involves an incision.  But the most invasive feature of the procedure is not the incision – it’s the cannula.  This hollowed out tube is used to remove fat.  To do so, the instrument is swept back and forth inside the body, causing serious bruising in the process.

Liposuction patients require lengthy recovery times and bandaging is prescribed for several months.  The pain resulting from bruising often results in prolonged use of painkillers, which can affect the stomach lining.

CoolSculpting takes approximately one hour per session.  After each treatment, the customer simply goes home.  There’s no downtime, no pain and certainly no bandaging of any kind.  Once the course of therapy is completed, customers watch as the treated areas begin to reduce before their very eyes.

Whoever said “No pain, no gain”, didn’t know about this revolutionary fat reduction technology, now being used by medical spas all over the world.

It’s tempting to think that DIY solutions are a good way to look your best, while saving money.  In fact, the beauty products market seems to be increasingly focused on treatments usually found at a medical spa like ours.

Gone are the days when treatments like home facials and mani-pedis were the pinnacle of DIY beauty.  Hair removal with shavers and depilatory creams are also old news.  Nowadays, laser hair removal kits are available, as well as facial peels.  These seem like advances in the home beauty sector, at first glance.

But we’re here to tell you and all that glitters is not gold.  Medical spa treatments vs. DIY treatments is not a contest at all.  That’s because you are not trained to use these types of therapies and because of that key factor, accidents can and do happen.

What you don’t know can hurt you.

When you contact a medical spa like Ethos Spa Skin & Laser Center about the therapies we offer, we don’t just get to work.  First, we’ll sit down with you and discuss the suitability of the therapy you’re seeking.

There are many factors to consider, depending on the nature of the treatment.  All skin types don’t respond the same way.  Some people have more sensitive skin.  That’s why we always ensure that the therapy you’re considering is suited to you before proceeding.

For laser hair removal, we always perform a “patch test”.  This involves testing the therapy on a small section of skin as a control to see how your skin responds.  Many people who opt for DIY treatments are excited by the prospect of having the technology available for their home use.  They tend to skip ahead to the money shot and that can lead to permanent damage.

Your skin can be burned, scarred and sometimes, bleeding can occur.  That’s serious stuff.  In the hands of someone who isn’t trained to use the technology appropriately, DIY treatments can be harmful.

In terms of microdermabrasion, the same precautions are taken prior to treatment.  A patch test can determine if your skin is too sensitive, or if you’re allergic to any of the products used.  There are many websites out there willing to recommend that you use this or that in your kitchen, but they’re not at home with you, ensuring that you proceed with caution.

Professionals know.

At Ethos Spa, we’re professionals who know that a conservative approach to medical spa treatments is our responsibility.  We give all our guests the same consideration and caution because we’re here to help you look incredible and feel amazing.

We’ll never recommend a treatment that’s not appropriate for you or could cause damage to your skin.

Because we’re governed by a Board of medical professionals, our guests come to us with complete confidence, knowing that our treatments and therapies are vetted by doctors.

It’s tempting to believe that DIY treatments are a great way to save money, but professional care is always advised.  Contact us to find out more.

If you’re giving the title of this post the side-eye, you’re not alone.  Then again, you may be surprised to hear that men are seeking out Botox therapy more frequently.

In fact, the incidence of men opting for Botox injections has increased 300% recently.  So, those of you reading this; those who think that aesthetics treatments are only for women, or that caring about your appearance is somehow “not masculine”, think again.

Those Old School ideas are going out the window.

Why are men getting Botox injections?

We’re all human, guys.  Aging impacts men just as much as it does women.  These days, men are seeking out Botox because they want to look younger and feel more confident.  And it’s not just a matter of being more attractive in the pursuit of a mate.  It’s also about work.

Increasingly, men know that employers trend toward youth in the hiring process.  Even in terms of advancement in an existing role, a certain vigor is sought out.  Sometimes it’s unconscious, but we all know that the way we look can drive the way people respond to us.  Whether we like it or not, the same is true of employers.

A study at the University of Texas has determined that people whose appearance is considered attractive earned up to 4% more than those deemed less so.  That’s a statistic that should get any guy’s attention.

So, yes.  Botox is for men, too.  You’re reading this because you’re interested in finding out more about Botox.  It’s possible that you harbor some misgivings about the treatment, itself.  Read on and we’ll tell you why Botox is a safe, effective therapy that can not only make you look younger, but prevent lines and wrinkles and give you a fresher, more youthful appearance.

The “Brotox” effect.

The increasing numbers of men opting for Botox therapy has given rise to the term “Brotox”, so guys considering the treatment are jumping on a well-established bandwagon that’s rolling along at a good clip.

Almost 20% of Botox customers are men and that number is growing.  With time, people of both sexes have come to understand that Botox doesn’t freeze your face.  That’s not how it works.  Botox works by temporarily reducing the activity of muscles under the skin.

A skilled technician knows exactly how to achieve your goals for Botox injections, reducing the appearance of lines and preventing them from appearing at all, in younger clients.  Botox also has a lifting effect which can result in a fuller appearance in the cheeks and jawline.

As summer nears, the time has come to rejuvenate your skin’s glow.  As the earth renews through the spring, your skin needs some extra, loving care, so you can glow on with your bad self over the long, hot days of summer.

Getting your glow on at home.

Looking after yourself to ensure the health of your skin is a year-round effort.  But when you’re thinking “summer”, you’re thinking swimsuits, shorts, and spaghetti straps.  That’s why all over skin care is so important right now.

Whether you’re a fan of the sun or not, glowing skin is always in fashion over the summer months.  You’ll want to add some extra pampering to get your skin summer-ready.

Exfoliation is an imperative for getting your glow on right.  Sloughing off the dead skin cells that have accumulated under your winter clothing reveals a whole new layer of glow you’ll want the world to see.  Post-exfoliation, nourishing your skin with a nutrient-rich all over moisturizer brings the soft sensuality of summer to your winter-weary skin.

Winter lays a beat down on your face, too and the same principles apply, but facial exfoliation is to be gently applied.  Moisturizing masks, brightening treatment, and toning emulsions and creams are the way to go when pursuing skin rejuvenation for the summer.

Once you’re out there, what are you going to do?  You’re going to slather on the sunscreen to keep your newly-renewed skin glowing in the summer sun.  A 30 SPF is more than sufficient for most casual exposure, but the porcelain-skinned should be applying a transparent zinc oxide block.

Maybe you’re already getting your glow on with a summer skin care regime, but you want to go one step further.  That’s where the medical cosmetics experts at Ethos Spa Skin & Laser Center can help take glowing on with your bad self to the next level.

Getting your glow on with Ethos – next level skin care.

At Ethos, we know how important looking incredible and feel amazing over the summer is.  That’s why our suite of aesthetic skin care services has been assembled to bring you the leading edge of what’s hot in the world of medically informed skin care.

With advanced therapies and treatments, Ethos is here to help you get your glow on by taking it to the next level.  We offer a full suite of skin care services, ranging from microdermabrasion to the skin pen to facial fillers and contouring.

And if getting smooth and silky is part of the way you glow on with your bad self, our laser hair removal services will get you there, safely and professionally.

Ethos Spa is a luxurious day spa, where you’ll feel pampered and treated to the very best medical aesthetics have to offer.  We love to send our guests home glowing with confidence and summer-ready skin that turns heads.

Now’s the moment for skin rejuvenation for the summer, at home and with Ethos Spa.  Contact us to take glowing on with your bad self to a whole new level.
