Microdermabrasion

Facial microdermabrasion is a gentle and non-invasive method of removing the surface layer of the skin, of the dead cells. Hence, it is one of the basic procedures that improve skin texture significantly. Microdermabrasion is applicable and successful with all skin types and with a skin of different age. Moreover, it reduces enlarged pores, wrinkles, superficial scars, hyperpigmentation, improves skin texture and appearance. The areas treatable with microdermabrasion are the face, neck, back, elbows, and thighs. It adjusts for the specific area by changing the size and density of crystals. By all means, treatment has to be conducted or overseen by a certified provider.

There are two different methods of doing microdermabrasion. Firstly, there is aluminum oxide crystals method and then there is diamond crystal method of different diameters. The degree of dermabrasion depends on the size of the diamond probe, speed, and a number of passes over the treated area. The histopathologic analysis and research showed that microdermabrasion penetrates to all layers of the skin. Firstly, it changes the thickness of the skin and the epidermis. Moreover, pigment cells become more uniform in size and number. In the third layer of the skin, the dermis, it improves the oxygenation of the skin and increases production of collagen. After few treatments, it increases the number of elastic fibers as well.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a procedure of inducing collagen production using a device covered with small needles. Essentially those needles make holes on the outer layer of the skin, causing micro injury and in that way promotes natural healing process by the skin and stimulated collagen production. This improves overall skin appearance reducing scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, and other imperfections.

There are microneedling devices sold for at-home use, but it is advised to have this done by a certified provider. If the skin is overly injured, then the appearance will not improve, instead, it will need additional treatments and a long time to heal. This procedure is not only done on the face but other areas of your body. Certified providers can perform it with growth factors, to stimulate even greater production of collagen. Patients usually require more than one treatment to see desired results. It is important that treatments are accordingly spaces out to avoid scarring and encourage healing and collagen production
