Kybella Swelling

Book now

Kybella is a newer treatment that can erase your double chin without surgery. The treatment is quick, practically painless and requires little to no recovery time. Some people notice post-treatment swelling, this is common and only lasts for a short period of time.

How Long Does Kybella Swelling Last?

For most patients, swelling doesn’t last long. Swelling typically peaks about 20 to 28 hours after the procedure, and will likely go away after 48 hours. On rare occasions, you can experience swelling for longer, but this usually depends on the dosage you receive. As long as you choose a skilled and experienced doctor your swelling should not last long. Patients with large amounts of fat underneath their chin and sagging skin may experience more swelling.

How To Reduce Swelling as Quickly as Possible

As mention earlier, most patients experience swelling for just 48 hours after their treatment. Most patient want their swelling to go away as quickly as possible so that they can see their results faster. Thankfully, there are some things that can be done to make sure this happens!

  • Choose a professional that specializes in Kybella and has a lot of experience with Kybella injections.
  • Receive small doses of Kybella across multiple treatments. The smaller your dose is, the less swelling you will experience. You may have to receive more treatments, although you will likely deal with less swelling.
  • Do not massage the treated area after you receive Kybella. Touching the treated area can lead to more swelling. It’s best to leave the area alone to ensure a speedy recovery.
  • You can take Arnica and Bromelain tablets before treatment and several days after. These are natural supplements that will help reduce discomfort and swelling.

Although, you may experience swelling for a short period of time, the long-lasting results of Kybella are worth it. After a few treatments, you should not see a double chin when you look in the mirror again!
